What is Locale?

Locale is a setting that allows you to set the specific language and regional formatting that your Givecloud site and Text-to-Give will automatically use.

All Givecloud sites default to English - US but can be adjusted during setup.

At this time, a website can be set up with a single locale language. If you wish to create a bilingual or multi-lingual web experience, you will need to set up separate sites for each Locale need.

How to setup Locale

To set up the Locale on your site, go to Settings > Organization Settings > Locale.

Click or Tab to the Locale dropdown and select your locale language.

Save the changes.

How does the site change with localization settings

Standardized language on your Givecloud website, checkout, and text-to-give experience will reflect the changes when you select a new language. The Givecloud admin will remain in English - US.

Givecloud doesn't translate customizable aspects of your Givecloud site. Locale will not reflect on the following features,

  • Button labels,

  • Item content, item names, price options,

  • Menus, page names, page content, page meta-data,

  • Blogs/Feeds,

  • Tribute names and Tribute email and letter content,

  • Category names and Category page content,

  • Custom Donor Cover Cost overrides

  • Site Name

  • Content added to a fundraising page, and community guidelines,

  • FAQ pages

  • Privacy Policies

  • Customized Pop-ups

  • Customized checkout labels.

  • Shipping Levels and Packing Slips

  • Text-to-Give 'listening for' keywords, and Text-to-Give reply with messages,

  • Sponsorship data, Timelines, profiles or Price Options.

Most of these settings are easily customizable on the pages, items, and settings, such as the Configure settings for Tributes, Donor Covers Cost and Shipping.

The rest of the customizable language settings can be found under Features > Website > Site Design.

Below is a quick guide to finding some potential language settings you will wish to change.
