Designations allow your supporters to choose their impact when they give through your Givecloud Donation page. Available on items using the Page with Payment Template, designations give your supporters more control over their giving.

How do Designations work?

Designations allow your supporters to narrow their contribution to a specific area of need by selecting the fund that they would like to contribute to.

Designations can be added to donation pages focused on program fundraising, seasonal campaigns, or movements. Designations allow your supporters to choose where their donations can have the greatest impact.


How do I set up Designations?

To setup designations go to,

  1. Go to Features > Sell & Fundraise > Items, create a new donation item or open your existing donation item.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the item page to Account Designations. If you don't see this as an option, you are probably integrated with DonorPerfect. Learn more about setting up designations with DonorPerfect.

  3. Change the Account Designation from Single to Give Supporter the Option. Changing the account designation will allow you to add multiple options under designations.

  4. To create a new Designation, add a title to Designation. The designation title is what the supporter will see on your donation page. Then add a General Ledger Code to Account. The general ledger is what you will see in reporting.

  5. Save.


How do I set up Designations with DonorPerfect?

To setup designations when integrated with DonorPerfect,

  1. Go to Features > Sell & Fundraise > Items, create a new donation item or open your existing donation item.

  2. Select DonorPerfect in the left navigation menu.

  3. Change the Account Designation from Single to Give Supporter the Option. Changing the account designation will allow you to add multiple options under designations. Designations are General Ledger codes in DonorPerfect.

  4. Add the General Ledgers you wish to be associated with the item. If you don't see a general ledger, create the general ledger in DonorPerfect, then Refresh DonorPerfect Codes. Add a title to the Designation. This is what the supporter will see on your donation page.

  5. Save.


How do I report on Designations in Givecloud?

The Payment by Items report will allow you to report on designations easily with the GL field. Sort your payment by items by Designations to determine what contributions to a specific area of need.


How do I customize the Designation Label on my donation page?

To edit the designation label on your donation page,

  1. Features > Sell & Fundraise > open your item with assigned designations.

  2. Select Customization, then under Overrides, add your new label under Designation Label.

  3. Save.
