Single fund donation items allow you to create a donation that focuses on a specific fund. Single donation pages are commonly used to create a general donation page or compliment other items such as event registration or product purchase. Single fund donation pages are designed for high conversion, with all the donation and payment information living on a single page.

Features of a Single Donation Page

Attributes of a single fund donation item include:

  • Donate to a specific fund.

  • Choose which fund you would like to donate to with designations.

  • Preset amounts for donations and allow donors to enter a custom amount.

  • Allow for one time or recurring contributions (weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually), 

  • Enable donors to leave a note with their donation.

  • Add a fundraising thermometer. Learn more about Campaigns.

  • Supporters can cover the fees of their donation with Donor Covers Cost.

  • Supporters can enter their payment and billing information on a single page.

  • Allow for supporters to provide a referral source.

Create a Donation Item

To create your first donation item:

  1. Go to Features > Sell & Fundraise > Items.

  2. Select + Add in the upper-right-hand corner. If you wish to use one of our preset templates, select the + Add dropdown, then select or tab to + Donation.

  3. After selecting the +Add button, the item page will open. Add a Name, Photo, SKU, and Summary for your donation page. The summary field can inspire your supporters to give and help with the search engine optimization of your donation item. Keep your summary limited to one or two sentences max.

Set the Price and Options

Next, you will set your Price and Options. Donation pages can include both one-time and recurring giving. We recommend starting with your recurring donation options first to encourage regular giving.

To create a price and option:

  1. Select + Add Option.

  2. Name the option "Monthly".

  3. Set the Payment to Recurring Monthly.

  4. Change the Price Type to Donation.

  5. Set the amount presets by typing in the monetary value. For example, 10, 20, 50, 100. Add the word other (all lowercase) at the end of your amount preset to encourage supporters to give outside the amount presets.

  6. If you wish, you can include a minimum donation amount under Min. Amount.

  7. Set your monthly donation option as default by selecting Set As Default in the bottom left-hand corner.

  8. Once complete, Select Add.

Repeat the steps for each price and option you wish to add.

Add a Category

If you have an existing category for your donations and campaigns, you can add your donation page to this category. If you wish to create a new category, save your process by selecting the Save button in the upper-right-hand corner, and go to Features > Website > Categories. Learn more about Categories.

Complete Item Settings with Options

Under the Options panel, we recommend the following settings for donation pages:

Page Layout - Page with Payment: Page with Payment allows your supporters to complete their donation quickly and easily on a single page.

Show on Website: By making the donation page accessible on your website. Supporters can review, donate, and share the donation page.

Show on POS: By making the donation item accessible on your virtual Point of Sales, Your team can help your supporters donate in-person, by mail, and over the phone to the donation item. Learn more about Givecloud's Virtual Point of Sale.

Enable Social Buttons: Social buttons allow your supporters to share the donation page on popular social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. If the supporter wishes to share the site via Instagram, they can copy the URL and add the URL to their Instagram profile.

Allow Tax Receipts: Ensures each contribution will receive a tax receipt on this donation item. Learn more about Tax Receipts.

Allow Donor Covers Cost: This allows the supporter to cover the cost of running your online donation page. Learn more about Donor Covers Cost.

Optional - Add Content to the Donation Page

Before going live, consider adding some supplementary information about the donation item by selecting Page Content on the left-hand menu.

  • Share information about the projects, programs, or impact of the donation.

  • Create content that will appear above the billing fields on your new donation page.

  • You can start from scratch or use a template or section of a template to help get you started.

Customize the URL

After you Save the item, a URL for the item is created. Preview the URL in the upper-left-hand corner. Customize the URL by selecting the pencil icon beside the URL.

A pop-up will appear, where you can customize the URL to the donation item. Adjust the URL and Save.
