Managing Pledge Campaigns

Before you can start collecting pledges, you need to create at least one campaign that your donors can pledge against.  A campaign is a set of items that you are raising money against between two dates.  For example, you may have a 2023 Building Fund where you want to track all donations towards any building-related items between Jan 1st, 2020 and Dec 2023.

  1. From the left menu, select Features > Pledges.

  2. Select Pledge Campaigns.

  3. Click the green + Add button at the top of the screen to add a campaign.

  4. Give the campaign a name (this is what the donor will see they are pledging towards).  Set a start, end date and the items you want Givecloud to track the sales of.

  5. When you're ready, hit Save.

Now you can start creating pledges.

Using SMS & Instant Messaging

You can create a Messenger Conversation that allows your donors to pledge from their phone using SMS & Instant Messaging.  For example, "Text 'BUILD 500' (or any amount) to pledge $500 to our building fund!"

  1. From the left menu, select Features > Text to Give.

  2. Click the green + Add button to add a new conversation.

  3. From the Conversation Type drop-down, select "Pledge with Amount".  Be sure to provide the message text in the "Listening For..." field. For example: 'BUILD {amount}' or 'VISION {amount}'.

  4. On the right sidebar, be sure to select the Pledge Campaign you want all pledges collected from this conversation to be associated.

  5. Hit Save.

To create multiple pledge conversations, repeat the above process for each pledge campaign.  Be sure to use unique message text ("Listening for...").

Add Pledge as an option on a Donation Page

You can add a Pledge option to all Page With Payment style donation pages so your Supporters can give a pledge for a larger contribution over time rather than simply donating today or setting up a recurring payment.

  1. Navigate to the Item you want to collect Pledges for.

Features > Sell and Fundraise > Items. Search for the item you want to edit and select.

  2. On the right-hand side under Options ensure the Page Layout is "Page with Payment" (If it was not already you will need to re-save the page after selecting so that all options and menus for that page type will load).

  3. On the left side of the Item page select Customizations

  4. Scroll down to the Pledges section

  5. In the Pledge Campaign field add the campaign(s) you would like to have the option to collect pledges for.

  6. Add the Pledge Amount Presets that you would like to use as suggested pledge amounts.

  7. Scroll back to the top of the page and Save

  8. Your pledge option will now appear on your donation page
