Givecloud allows you to offer dedicated donations (Tributes) on any of your items. Givecloud will:

  • Automatically display the correct fields in the donation form.

  • Allow you to customize the language in the donation form. Find Tributes under Features > Website > Site Design > Cart & Checkout > Tributes.

  • Allow your donor to request a letter or email (ecard) to be automatically sent.

  • Record and track all your tribute data across all your donations. Review under Features > Tributes > All Tributes.

  • Automatically send email notifications to recipients (and attach a secure PDF tribute letter)

  • Help you manage to mail physical tribute letters

Getting Started with Tributes

  1. Set up the types of tribute you wish to have on your site (ex: In-Memory, Birthday Wishes, Holiday Wishes, etc.) Make sure to format each customized email and letter.

  2. Choose the items that will include Tributes.

  3. If you wish to have tribute-specific items, learn more about creating ecards and tributes.

A. Setup Tribute Types

  1. Go to Features > Tribute Types.
    This screen lists all your tribute types. By default, this list will include in-honor and in-memory tributes as examples.

  2. Click the Add button to add a new tribute type.

  3. Setup the new tribute type. include the following information,

    1. Sequence: This determines the order your tribute types display on your website when a supporter selects their tribute type.

    2. Label: The name or label of this tribute type.
      (Ex: In-Memory or Birthday Wishes)

    3. Status: Determines whether or not this tribute is live on your account or not.

    4. Learn more about setting up your email and letter template.

      If you are using DonorPerfect and your account is connected to Givecloud, a DonorPerfect integration box will appear to connect these tributes/eCards to your tribute codes in DonorPerfect - if you are using that functionality.

  4. When you are ready, Save.

  5. Repeat this process for each type of tribute you want to be able to offer on your site.
    If you only create one type of tribute, Givecloud will never ask your donors what 'type' of dedication they want to make, as there is only one option.


B. Setup your Items

  1. Go to Features > Sell & Fundraise > Items.

  2. Find the item you want to offer tribute donations on.

  3. Click the item thumbnail to the left of the item to open and edit it.

  4. In the General tab, scroll to the bottom of the screen until you reach the Tributes panel.

  5. Use the Tribute panel to configure how you want tributes to work on this specific item.

  6. When you are ready, click the Save button in the top right corner.

  7. Once saved, click the URL at the top to see how your item looks on your site.


Customize Tribute Labels in Checkout

Customize the tribute button and field labels in checkout by going to Features > Website > Site Design > Cart and Checkout > Tribute.

The following buttons and labels are available to customize,

Tribute Question: Customize the question in checkout that asks the supporter to determine if they wish to dedicate their contribution.

Tribute Type Label: Customize the label that shows above the field for the type of dedication. For example, Dedication Type.

Tribute Name Label: Change the label that shows above the field for the name of the dedication.

Tribute Notification Question: Change the text for the question to determine how the supporter would like the dedication to be delivered.

Tribute "Send Email" Button Label: Adjust the text on the Send Email button when choosing how to send the tribute. If you leave this blank, it will be the default value Send email.

Tribute "Send a Letter" Button Label: Adjust the text on the Send a Letter button when choosing how to send the tribute. If you leave this blank, it will be the default value Send a Letter.

Tribute "None" Button Label: Customize the text on the None button when choosing how to send the tribute. If you leave this blank, it will be the default value "None."


Reporting on all Tribute Donations

You can view all your tributes from the Features > Tributes > All Tributes. Use the filters to generate the report that suits your needs.


Send Tribute Letters, one at a time.

From the All Tributes, click on the magnifying glass icon from the left to view the tribute. This dialogue contains all the information about the tribute. Use the View Letter icon in the bottom right corner of that dialogue to view and print the PDF letter. Use the Mark as a Notified button in the bottom left to mark the Tribute letter as sent.

Send Tribute Letters, all at once

At the top of the All Tributes, you should see an Unsent Letters filter. If you do not see this button, it's likely because there are no unsent letters. If there are unsent letters, click this button, and Givecllud will instantly:

  • Merge all unsent letters into one multiple-page PDF for printing.

  • Flag every unsent letter as notified.
